Noble species in Newport Lakes Parkland

One of the largest and the most noble of these species is the Australian Black Swan. Is the most seen water birds in the park in Melbourne. May be because Australia is one of the driest continents in the world who is providing suitable habitat for water birds.

The hidden park

Newport Lakes Parkland is set right in the middle of one of Melbourne’s suburbs, Newport.

I went to Newport Lakes Park this morning. For me this is a hidden place... is a bushland oasis in the middle of Newport, and it is not far from the city

I like the drop of water on the back of the duck and the color of water in the lake

Newport Lakes is a well-kept secret. It's a piece of bushland right in the heart of Melbourne. Even some people that live in the area haven't visited it! It is well worth it though. Entry is free. Going for a walk around the lake is the best way to observe the wildlife. There is always something new to see - baby swans, lizards, birds, fish in the lake, the mist on the water early in the morning. There are a number of tracks you can take in the natural bush around the lake, including big stepping stones across the lake. There is also a more formal planted area with different types of non-native trees. You can make your walk anything from 15 - 20 minutes to an hour or more. Children will love the stepping stones and the playground, the BBQs are great, but the real attraction is being able to connect with the wildlife and the bush. Highly reccommended. Please note that no dogs or bikes are allowed to keep it a safe and welcoming environment for the wildlife.
